Mulled wine
This recipe is for one litre of mulled wine.
You will need:
300ml of mineral water, 100g of sugar, four cloves (msiemer tal-qronfol), a cinnamon stick, two lemons (thinly sliced), a bottle of burgundy or claret, an orange (thinly sliced).
Pour the water, sugar and spices into a large saucepan. Bring this to the boil and bubble until the sugar has dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the lemon slices. Leave the pan to stand for 10 minutes. Add the wine and heat it through – but don’t let it boil. Strain it into a heated punch-bowl. Add the orange slices and serve it hot.
