Eat blueberries before exams
A couple of portions of blueberries every day can reverse memory loss, according to a recent study. The secret may lie in the berry’s high levels of antioxidants, called flavanoids, which help fight disease and have been known to stimulate regeneration within brain cells. Volunteers who ate 300g of blueberries a day, the equivalent of a large punnet, on top of their normal diet, reported improvements in memory within three weeks, according to the study published in the journal Free Radical Biology and Medicine. Dr Matt Whiteman, from Peninsula Medical School in Exeter, said the same results could be achieved by replacing half the amount of blueberries with other flavanoid-rich foods such as apples, aubergines and blackberries.
